Year 2

Welcome

Welcome to Year 2 at Seaton Primary School.

In year 2, adventure awaits! We continue to learn and play within a blended model of curriculum delivery. Our aim is to shape young learners who feel empowered to forge their own interests and ambitions and to build a true love for learning, to take with them into Key Stage 2 and beyond.

Reading continues to form the backbone of our curriculum. We continue to teach the Read Write Inc phonics scheme, with the aim of children then progressing onto a rich programme of reading comprehension.

Our English curriculum is structured through immersion into a succession of rich texts which demonstrate key linguistic and literary knowledge. In year 2, we begin to truly express ourselves as writers.

In maths, our ‘Power Maths’ adventure continues, with a keen focus on problem-solving and testing our ideas through both creative and critical thinking.

In the wider curriculum, we further our appetite for learning through rich academic and cultural experience. We also aspire to ‘live’ our school values each day through our words, our actions; our compassion for each other and through the fact that, in year one, we strive to be the best we can be!
