Bank Staff: Catering Assistant

Love working in a busy kitchen? Looking for flexible, school-friendly hours?

We're looking for a friendly, reliable Bank Catering Assistant to join our school kitchen team.

This is a flexible bank role providing additional support during busy periods, staff absence and increased demand. Although we can't guarantee hours, we anticipate there will be regular opportunities to work, typically around 4 hours per day, making this an ideal role for someone looking for flexible employment that fits around family life, another job or retirement.

You'll be joining a welcoming team preparing healthy school meals for our children each day.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside our Kitchen Manager and catering team, you'll help to:

  • Prepare fresh ingredients and assist with meal preparation
  • Set up serving counters ready for lunchtime service
  • Serve meals to children in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Wash, clean and tidy kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Help maintain excellent food hygiene standards
  • Store food safely and assist with stock and deliveries
  • Support the smooth running of our busy school kitchen.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, reliable and hardworking
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
  • Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Takes pride in keeping work areas clean and organised
  • Happy following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
  • Flexible and willing to help wherever needed.

Experience

Previous catering or kitchen experience would be helpful but it isn't essential. If you're enthusiastic, enjoy working with people and are willing to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

Mealtime Assistant 

Seaton Primary School
Permanent | 10 hours per week
Monday to Friday | 11:30am to 1:30pm (term time only)

Grade A - £24,796 FTE (pro rata)

At Seaton Primary School, we believe lunchtime is much more than eating a meal. It's a chance for children to build friendships, develop independence and enjoy a safe, happy break in the middle of their day.

We're looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Mealtime Assistant to join our friendly team.

No two days are quite the same, but you'll play an important role in helping our children have a positive lunchtime experience.

What you'll be doing

You'll work as part of our lunchtime team to:

  • Welcome children into the hall and help prepare the dining area
  • Support the serving of lunches and encourage good table manners
  • Help younger children with food, cutlery and developing independence
  • Supervise children during lunchtime, both in the dining hall and on the playground
  • Promote positive behaviour and ensure children remain safe and happy
  • Help tidy and clean the dining area after lunch, ready for the afternoon
  • Report any accidents or concerns and contribute to keeping our children safe.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Warm, approachable and enjoys working with children
  • Calm, patient and able to build positive relationships
  • Reliable and punctual
  • A great team player
  • Happy working both indoors and outdoors in all weathers
  • Confident communicating with children and colleagues
  • Able to encourage children to make healthy choices and enjoy lunchtime.

Details: We have a number of current and upcoming vacancies for the role Governor on the Seaton Primary School Governing Body. Governors are volunteers who make a vital contribution to the success of the school.
We are the local Primary School at the heart of the town and the community. We are proud of our welcoming and nurturing school environment that respects and celebrates diversity. The governing body is made up of staff, parents and co-opted governors from outside the immediate school community, who together offer a valuable range of skills to the schools.
