School Council
🌟 Seaton Primary School Council
At Seaton Primary School, our School Council plays a vibrant and meaningful role in shaping the life of our community. Made up of representatives from every class, voted for democratically by their peers, the council gives pupils a real platform to share ideas, influence decisions, and help make Seaton an even better place to learn and belong.
🌈 What We’ve Been Working On
Our councillors have been busy this year, taking on projects that strengthen our school values of diversity, belonging, kindness, and leadership.
-
Curriculum Review — Using pupil voice, the council worked with teachers to review parts of our curriculum through a lens of diversity and belonging. They gathered feedback from classmates, discussed what helps everyone feel represented, and shared thoughtful suggestions that are now shaping future planning.
-
Red Nose Day Fundraiser — The council organised a brilliant Red Nose Day event, complete with fun activities, themed dress‑up, and a whole‑school challenge. Their efforts raised money for a fantastic cause and brought the whole Seaton community together in laughter and generosity.
-
Pupil Voice Surveys — Councillors designed and ran surveys to understand how pupils feel about playtimes, learning spaces, and wellbeing. They presented their findings in assembly and worked with staff to make positive changes to lunchtime playtimes through the restocking and ordering of new playtime equipment and activities requested by the children.
-
Eco‑Initiatives — From encouraging recycling to sharing ideas for greener outdoor areas, the council continues to champion sustainability across the school. They also led a find an alternative way to travel to school week to reduce car traffic.

💬 Why the School Council Matters
The School Council helps our pupils:
-
Develop leadership by representing their peers
-
Build confidence through speaking, presenting, and decision‑making
-
Shape school life by turning ideas into real improvements
-
Celebrate diversity and ensure everyone feels they belong
At Seaton, we know that children’s voices matter — and our School Council shows just how powerful those voices can be.
